EK Flatbed J rumour
This week's edition of Arabian Business has a small column mentioning a rumour that following VS's high J loads on LHR-DXB, EK is putting flat beds in Business Class for the first time in the new 777s on order, and refit 12 777-300s by early 2008.
Would be a good side effect of competition.. let's see if it''s really true.

Hopefully that means that we'll get the flat bed aircraft on the DXB-LHR-DXB routes
Obviously GDS availability is not the best way to tell loads, but I have been looking for DXB-LHR seats for travel between August 20th and August 31st. EK has consistantly shown F0J0Y0 for most flights, but VS keeps showing things like: J7K0Y0 or J7K0Y9 with all the UC buckets showing 7 seats for sale

It's not a rumour

The Emirates web site has details and pictures... however check the phots out and please not the slope of the windows (angled up) whilst the bed is angled down... I think its going to be way to steep for most people to sleep on.

3 weeks ago did JFK-DXB, then DXB-SYD, then SYD-DXB-JFK.
DXB-SYD has the new configuration and they told me that it would be in place DXB-JFK within 4 months at the latest. I like it a lot more than VS or SQ. They said that each seat and pod cost more than $125,000 US.

Flew it this summer. Not as good as the SQ/LH or VS product. Perfect if you are not more than 1.75m thereafter it is quite uncomfortable, the old seat was better (not by much). EK have a great F suite, pity they cannot do better in J. I won't mention Y as it is offensive.

Its funny I just flew business class to JFK and the seats were horrible for a 14 hr flight. The A340-500 is suppose to be ther flagship carrier.
It suprising that they offer flat bed on a 6.5hr flight and not on a 14hr flight.

Actually the Emirates flat bed business class seat will only be guaranteed to be offered on the EK203/204 to/from JFK.
The EK205/206 which will operate via HAM will be with the regular B77Ws -- ie. the regular business class.
Currently there are only 2x B77W configured in a 3-class layout (EBQ and EBR) that allows the operation of only the EK203/204 rotation. Subsequent aircraft deliveries may facilitate the deployment of frames configured with the new J seats.
