DXB-SAA and upgrading advice

I have two issues here and would be very appreciative if you could enlighten me with your wisdom.

Firstly, I am planning to fly DXB-SAA and was wondering what the formalities are like at SAA airport?

Secondly, I will be flying to Doha on an Arabian airpass fare but have 19 hours in DXB between SAA and DOH. I could use the DCA lounge but would prefer to shell out 5,000 Skywards miles and use the EK J class lounge. Will EK issue lounge passes on such upgrades (I have heard people get sent to the DCA)?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,

Welcome to FT.

When you say "spend 5,000 miles" I assume you mean to upgrade dxb-doh. is that correct? if so, as a J class passenger, you will be able to use the EK lounge. The DCA lounge is mainly used for FF Status PAX flying in Y.

Cheers

Thanks for this. Since posting initially I have booked the SAA leg and bought C Class fares to Doha with the Airpass. I might now upgrade to F for my 17 hour layover when Skywards opens tomorrow.
