Booking online

Is there some secret I do't know about for booking on Emirates website. I can not get it to accept any of my credit cards.

I'm trying to book London-Entebbe and the Emirates site is about $200 cheaper than any other.

There error I get is:

Sorry, your credit card could not be verified. Your online payment transaction may have been refused authorisation by your issuing bank.

Some common reasons for refusal include incorrect card type, number or expiry date; incorrect Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode password for 3D-secure Master/Visa cards; communication errors between payment gateway supplier, acquirers and banks or refusal by bank for reasons not specified to Emirates.
 
Details of your planned itinerary appear below.Please try again to book online, making sure to enter the correct credit card details. You may contact your bank for further details on the reason for refusal.
This happens for my Visa (non-debit) and Amex cards. My visa is registered with "Verified by visa". I've re-verified that all the numbers and expiration dates are entered correctly. I've turned off all pop-up blockers and add blockers on my computer in case they were trying to popup some verification window.

When I contact the credit card companies they indicate that there wasn't even an attempt to verify the card.

I should probably just give them a call, but since I live in the middle of nowhere in Uganda, it will cost quite a bit so I was hoping this was some known problem and I am just missing something obvious.

I suppose its a technical problem which has nothing to do with your type of credit card. You should call Emirates, however, Im not sure if the office in Entebbe can help with the online booking process. The phone number is 039775778.

hi,

sorry you're having problems. I have only seen that error when my billing address didn't match my credit cards billing address. If that isn't the problem, I would follow Shilla's advice.

On the subject of online bookings, I'm quite peeved at the fact that they don't offer it for journeys starting in Malta, but does accept Malta as a destination. This means that I'm not elegible for the extra bonus miles when I fly EK

I wonder if I can ask the local office to give me the miles, since it's not my fault that I'm not booking online, but them not offering it to me as an option.

Slowly but surely more and more EK destinations are becoming available for online booking, so it's just a matter of time until you can book online from Malta. Do let us know if they give you the bonus miles in the end.
