EK stalking BA???

Reported on the BA board that EK may be interested in acquiring part (they can't buy it all) of BA.

Ba's share price up 5% as of now...

(EK have denied the rumour though)

Haha, this would be the only way to make me fly BA again,
only the great service of EK (and their insensitivity in cost
saving) can sort out the problems of BA. ^ ^ ^

As I understand it, if BA is not majority owned by a UK corporation, they lose a lot of the benefits they receive as a UK corporation, including things like slots at LHR.

So EK taking them over would probably eliminate any of the reasons EK would want BA in the first place.

There's a far better discussion of this on the BA board, including ways EK could work along with these rules...

I'm the opposite. I hate BA the way it is, and I'll pick
Emirates anyday over BA although it'll mean that I
need to transit in DXB instead of flying direct. This is
especially true if I'm flying Y.
