Equipment Changes with Emirates

I last travelled from London Heathrow to Perth in December 2004 (travelling in J) and returned in January 2005. The equipment in place for my journey was a 777 from London to Dubai and an A340-300 from Dubai to Perth. The equipment didn't change at all from the time we booked the flights to the time we departed.

I recently booked LGW to Perth (also travelling in J) for this Christmas (main reason being that Emirates now have a lounge in Gatwick and the Red Carpet Club at Heathrow is rubbish ), and when I made my booking I was positive that the aircraft were all 777's (a mix of 200's, 300's and 300 ER's). However, now I see that my journey is an A330-200, the 777-300ER, and the 777-300...
  1. I've been on the 777-300 before, but does anyone know if these will have (or are likely to have) ICE by the end of the year?
  2. What is the A330-200 like seating wise (got 9J&K, and not much else available)?
  3. Are the A330-200's likely to have ICE by then? If not, do they have the personal video's?
  4. Any chance of an equipment change between now and Christmas (on the LGW - DXB segments)?

Thanks in advance for any feedback (BTW travelling in J LHR - SYD on the A340-500 in a month's time - ICE all the way - so will add to the other thread after I've travelled!)

If you had asked a few months ago, I probably would have said yes.

EK was scheduled to refurbish a 777-300 every 2 months, starting from a while ago. However, routes that were scheduled to have 777 w/ the new configuration and ICE (according to the schedule), no longer seem to have that configuration. It is still possible, but I would say, unlikely.

The seat pitch is ok, but the seats are very narrow, and the recline is quite poor. (VERY poor for the footrest)

They do not sound much different to the old 777's that served LHR last time I travelled with Emirates.

IMHO the 330s are worse. The seats are much narrower, and the recline is significantly less. However there is a lot more legroom.

Cheers

Thanks, I feel great now. Could've taken a later flight and gone on a 777! Let's pray for an equipment change (I hope demand increases sufficiently to warrant a bigger aircraft...)

Flew LHR-DXB-KUL-DXB-LHR last year in J. All flights were 777 except the DXB-LHR sector which was an A330 Despite being very tired I just could not get comfortable. I now actively try and avoid EK 330 flights unless they are very short.

Well, I'll have to be optimistic that the loads are so heavy that they require a 777 - they've got 44 more to be delivered, so I'm going to look on the bright side. That or a last minute equipment change - after all, I am travelling at Christmas!
