Hi,
I'm booked with my family in first class from LGW to DXB soon, in seat 2A, 2B and 2E. This was boooked by an agent but I have done a dummy booking on EK web site to see how the cabin was filling up. On each occasion the same seats are shown as occupied. In fact when doing the same dummy booking for flights on different dates the seat plan always shows the same seats occupied. Does anyone know exactly this syatem works? Surely it can't be coincidence that the same seats have been requested by the same number of passengers on every flight. Thats what the system seems to be showing.
Thanks

EK does blocks some seats out for check-in and people with children. The seats chosen tend to be random (but consistant on routes. For example J class on LHR-DXB flights might have 7DEF 11JK block out for example.) If you phone EK they can sometimes assign these "blocked" seats to you.

From my experience EK always blocks row 2 in F on seat maps of TA's reservation systems or EK's online booking engine, at least on the A340-500 (maybe on other types as well as your example shows). But on the system EK's agents have access to usually they aren't (otherwise they already have been taken by other pax).
