World Cup tickets

Just out of curiosity: Has anyone of you taken advantage of the free World Cup tickets that Emirates are giving away for their premium customers?

The email I received said that you have to fly and purchase a package to get the tix

it is very misleading as the heading just says that you get the tix

then when going into the t and cs it says that you ahve to purchase a flight and package

Forgive me if i misunderstood you... but are you saying that you assumed that Emirates would just "give" you free world cup tickets?

Cheers

I actually expected that they were free tickets, as they should be sponsor tickets, and in Germany the other sponsors are giving them away in lotteries etc.

they had a promo in last year:
once you registered, a business return flight (fra-dxb-bah in my case) would
rack you in 2 first round worldcup tickets of your choice( they had 10 pairs each; i picked germany vs. equador on june 20th in berlin)

since then they had some more promos, but all for the very busy EK users;
like one pair of tickets for the top 100 skywards miles earners within 3 month.

anyway, can't complain

As I am GOLD and have enough bookings to more that achieve again this year so till 2008 I do expect something other than the free gold gate pass into dxb and a few extra base miles.
what a DEAL!

I took it that he meant First / Business Class since he doesn't state being Skywards Gold or Silver in his profile... but I could be wrong.

Could you please give an example? I know that my first comment seemed a little "smart" but I couldn't find a nicer way to phrase it - it was an honest question.

Cheers

Whoopy do, you're a gold - it's very rare that anyone gets gold status with Emirates.

Maybe Emirates should have a private jet that's available for their premium gold passengers - just phone up a couple of days before you want to fly, and they will pick you up at your local airport. They could also use it take all the Golds to the World Cup final! After all, it's the Gold passengers that make all their profit, so it's our money that is paying for the sponsorship.

I think they should also start using the Burj-Al-Arab for the free stopovers.

Cheers,
Rick

I know! A quick search reveals that at least a few dozen others do it too.
