SIN-CMB(Y)/CMB-DXB(C) Same Flight - Possible?
I am thinking about taking advantage of the ex-CMB deals for an upcoming trip to SIN. My plan is to fly SIN-CMB-DXB(EK)-MXP(AZ)-JFK(AZ). In order to use the CMB deal I need to buy two tickets, SIN-CMB and CMB-JFK. What I am planning on doing is buying SIN-CMB on EK349 in Y and then CMB-DXB on EK349 in C, as the flight stops in CMB. It would be two seperate tickets obviously. Will this cause problems given that the time on the ground in CMB is only an hour? Has anyone ever tried this? I am hoping that I could check my bag all the way to MXP at SIN and get boarding passes for both EK segments. My main concern is that I would have to get off in CMB and re-claim my bags, which would give me nowhere near enough time to check-in and make it back to the gate. The other concern is that I could check my bags all the way, but be forced off and through immigration at CMB before getting back to the plane, again not enough time to do it all. Is it safer to stop for a day in CMB? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't think twice about doing this with a domestic itinerary, but this is a new ball game for me. Thanks.
