Hi,
I have seen on the forum some talk of passengers on EK being downgraded.
I am now a little concerned about this.
I am booked with my wife and son to go LGW to DXB on 12 August returning 26 August in First.
The seats, according the the EK web site are 'comfirmed' but I am a worried about the possibility of being downgraded having spent a small fortune of my own money on this trip.
Does anyone know under what circumstances downgrading occurs and how to avoid it?
Also, anyone know what aircraft type is likely to be used on EK12 outbound and EK09 return?
Thanks.

What I do know is that EK will let people fly on standby base in J on a 2 class aircraft (e.g. DXB-CAI) which is already heavily overbooked at the time of adding pax. The passenger will not get a seat assignment and is told that changes of being seated in J are slim.
This seems fair to me. Involuntary downgrading from F (which also occurs on BA) is a shame. The frequency of this (if existent) on EK is unknown to me.

I think the main reason it occurs is the switching of planes from a 3-class config to a 2-class config. There is not really anyway one can avoid the above scenario if it happens but you should be compensated in any case.
According to schedules your planes should be as below : -
EK12 LGW-DXB = Boeing 77W
EK09 DXB-LGW = Airbus 332
Don't worry and enjoy the Emirates First experience.

Thanks for helping guys.
Is the B77W is the new 777-300ER with the new first class ICE etc?
And the 332 the old style airbus? Or will these be refitted by Ausust?
Anyone know this?
Thanks again.

The A332 has the old first class seats, which are not up-to-date, but still quite comfortable. The ICE system is currently not available onboard, but should be added soon.

The A330 was recently refitted to have an improved seat pitch in F/J class, but that's it. I would try to get on a 77W / 772 flight as your experience will be much better. I am currently not at home, and do not have KVS access over here, so if someone would be so kind as to check Amadeus (seems to be the most accurate) for which planes will be flying DXB-LGW on 24 AUG. If not, I will check when I get home
Cheers
