The Quest for Gold

Evening All,

Any advice here would be much appreciated. I'm new to this frequent flyer game so apologies for my lack of knowledge - I'm picking up the tricks as I go along.

I am currently a Silver Skywards member with 32,792 tier miles. I have just received a mail from Emirates informing me that in October all flights with EK and UA will earn me double tier miles - meaning I need to earn 8514 tier miles in October to qualify me for Gold status.

Can anyone advise me on the cheapest and easist routing departing from the UK to take in October to earn me these miles?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Many thanks

Flights going to Karachi are often much cheaper (going UK-Dubai-Karachi vv is often cheaper than UK-Dubai VV)

MAN-DXB-KHI-DXB-MAN is 8516 miles
Shouldnt be too expensive if you go off peak. I would recommend staying for as little time as possible in KHI, but enjoy a nice stopover in Dubai.

Cheers

You mentione UA flights receive double status miles in October - do UA flights normally give status miles on Skywards? I had just though it would only be EK (and UL) flights that counted towards status, not partners. Certainly would be great if UA are included and especially if double!

Was this offer sent to all members or was iit targetted?

Many thanks.

I received the mail as well as I am some 5000 miles short of gold. Offer is valid on EK and UL. Here's the text of the mail:

"Congratulations! With plenty of travel time still left this year, you have already earned enough tier miles to secure Skywards Silver status for 2006.

This spectacular achievement not only allows you to enjoy special Silver privileges, but also brings you closer to enjoying the added benefits of Gold membership including Gold tier bonuses, global lounge access and guaranteed seat reservations to name a few.

Your participation in Skywards has been exceptional and to help you make the most of the upcoming travel season, we are offering you double tier miles on all Emirates and SriLankan travel during the month of October.

To secure Gold status in 2006, you must earn 50,000 tier miles, or fly 40 sectors by 31st December this year.

Register now

To qualify for double tier miles, click here or call your local Skywards service centre quoting code STI5P to register. This offer is valid on Emirates or SriLankan flights anytime between 1st and 31st October 2005.

We look forward to making your current Silver membership and your journey towards Gold as rewarding as possible."

Ua is definitely not included.
I think it was for people who had achieved silver.
I may have cracked the code though if it will help
