I recently saw this picture on myaviation.net:

http://www.myaviation.net/search/pho...597&size=large

It shows a B777ER A6-EBI, but with the old first class seats. I thought all of the ER have the new equipment onboard

How can I find out which B777ER has the flat bed in F ? I´m going to fly DXB-PVG in F and I hope I won´t be stuck in one of those old seats.

I´m also not satisfied with the way EK presents their fleet and seat maps on their website. The information given is mostly inaccurate.

I would probably agree with you in terms of how EK present their fleet and what you get. The seats on the new planes are not what you would expect, and while they do not have a fresh new feel, they do actually look quite comfortable. However, I'll probably have to wait until January before I get to try them out!

I have been reading the posts on this thread and thought i might provide some info to clarify.

First, among the B777-200/200ERs, there are still 2 aircraft that have yet to be refurbished. One is a 2 class acft - A6-EML and the other is a 3 class acft - A6-EMK. Both these aircraft should be refurbished with ICE and new seats by end of 2006.

Second, the B777-300s are due to be refurbished in 2007. First class on these aircraft will receive the same seat as the B777-300ERs (sky cruiser seat), whilst Business class will receive a new lie flat seat that will be launched in the coming months (more details below). Of course these aircraft will have the ICE system in all classes.

Third, all B777-300ER aircraft arriving from March 2007 onwards will feature the new lie flat seat in J class whilst F class will get the "suites" that are on the A340-500. In fact from the current batch of B77W deliveries, 2 of them will be configured like this as they will operate the non-stop EK203/4 JFK service from end of October 2006. The two aircraft - A6-EBQ and A6-EBR are due to be delivered end of July and August 2006 respectively and from 1 September operate on the EK314/5 to Nagoya, before being switched to JFK at the end of October. These B77Ws will also have overhead crew rest areas so they can operate 12hr+ flights -- some routes being considered include DXB-MEL and DXB-SYD non-stop.

Fourth, there are currently no plans to refurbish the A330 or A340-300 fleets with new interiors/seats or ICE. However this could always change.

Best regards

None of the B77Ws have the old config. They all came from factory with the SkyCruiser First Class seat.

Question

Hello,

I have some questions regarding ICE in Emirates 777. Does it depend only on the flight number (so always the same plane flies the same routes) or does it depend on the date and the flight number?

Please, can anyone tell me if I can expect ICE on the following flights (in economy)?:

EK 046 FRA - DXB 17 Nov 2006
EK 384 DXB - BKK 18 Nov 2006
EK 385 BKK - DXB 10 DEZ 2006
EK 045 DXB - FRA 10 DEZ 2006

In February I flew with the 777-300 ER A6-EBK which was brandnew and after this experience the old inflight entertainment system can't satisfy me ;-)
But I would prefer to know that there will not be ICE on the planes befor I go to the airport and maybe get dissapointed.

thank you + kind regards,

Volker

Hi,

Welcome to FT.

The entertainment does not depend on the flight number. The flight can (but not neccessarily will) be operated by different aircraft or even a different type of aircraft on different days.

As it stands right now:

EK 046 FRA - DXB 17 Nov 2006 - Yes (reconfigured Boeing 777-200/200ER)
EK 384 DXB - BKK 18 Nov 2006 - No
EK 385 BKK - DXB 10 DEZ 2006 - No
EK 045 DXB - FRA 10 DEZ 2006 - Yes (reconfigured Boeing 777-200/200ER)

Cheers

Question

I have booked the following itinerary in J for myself and partner and would value comments on the availability of ICE and the best choice of seats on the aircraft shown.

BHX - DXB EK038 9 Dec 2006 332
DXB - SIN EK352 10 Dec 2006 77W
SIN - MEL EK404 12 Dec 2006 773
MEL - AKL EK406 15 Dec 2006 345
AKL - SYD EK419 2 Jan 2007 77W
SYD - DXB EK413 4 Jan 2007 345
DXB - BHX EK039 7 Jan 2007 77W

Apologies for the repeat nature of this post, but I'm finding it a little difficult to digest all the information available.

Thanks in advance for any advice people can offer.

You'll get ICE on the 77W and A345. You may get lucky with the 773, but definately not on the A332.

As for seats, have a look on the seating maps on the Emirates site. I'd avoid the first row of any cabin, as you may have less legroom due to the bulkhead. I always aim for the second row.

Cheers,
Rick
