Poor security at DXB?
I've just returned home from a trip to Hong Kong on Emirates. We made a stopover in Dubai both ways.
The security in the First/Business check in area is pathetic. On both occasions, there was only one security agent, and he didn't really seem to be paying any attention. I walked through the metal detector, and it bleeped. He looked up at me and just waved me through.
I watched the next person, and the same thing happened.
A lady then came through, and again got a bleep. He made her take her shoes off and try again. Same bleep, but he let her go.
It needs to be looked at seriously before something bad happens.
Cheers,
Rick

Same impression here when I used this facility last January. It seemed as they just didn't want to bother those premium paying passengers. It reminded me of the security checks at Egyptian airports but with guards in better suits... As we all know that terrorists like to travel upfront this is an F/C class "perk" I can happily renounce...

If they think they are doing the premium passengers a favour, perhaps if such passengers complain directly to the staff (if they're present) about it they might take a little heed, if only for a short time?

It's been a while since I last flew to DXB, but can anyone remember if there are any secondary checks at DXB, just before getting onto a plane? I know BEY and AMM have primary and secondary checks.

I agree that the check in screening is pretty inattentive at DXB. I fly Turkish Air out of Dubai all the time and there is a secondary metal detector and carry on x-ray at the gates they use. I'm not sure if secondary screening at the gate is the airlines decision or not as Turkish is a stickler about security?
