Lounge access at DXB

Hi guys,

I´m going to fly FRA-DXB and DXB-DAC next month. The first sector is in J class (upgrade), the second in Y. Will I be allowed to use the lounge at DXB ? The layover is about 3 hours.

Maybe I have to be polite at check-in ?!

I remember some years ago, when I was skywards "blue" (no lounge access), I got an upgrade at DUS check in for the first leg of my flight DUS-DXB-JNB. Together with the upgrade I got an invitation card for the lounge in DXB, even that the second leg was in economy.
So I think your chances are good!

Thanks dusordua, sounds good.

Did EK upgrade you although you had no status at that time ? I guess it´s pretty rare those days, isn´t it ?

Maybe the girl behind the desk liked your suit

Seems like Emirates is still doing it. At least it also happened to me in February this year. I (just skywards blue) have been on my return flight from Australia. When boarding the connecting flight in DXB the man at the gate crossed the emergency exit seat number I catched in Australia on the boarding card. I was already worrying when he asked me "You are a member of our frequent flyer program?" - "Yes" - "you have been upgraded"...

You just need a lot of luck and are not allowed to even think about it..
Cheers, Jog

You are not technically allowed lounge access in DXB when connecting to a Y flight.
I had this problem on a flight from MAN-DXB in paid J last year connecting onto DXB-MCT which was in Y.
I asked at check-in at MAN if they could give me a lounge invite for when I arrived in DXB as my flight was in J but they would not give me one as connecting flight was in Y.
Luckily I pointed out that the flight in J I was about to take would make me Skywards Silver after arrival in DXB so the check-in agent had a look on his system confirmed this and gave me a lounge pass.

Always ask though as you may get lucky !!

Thanks Airframe.

I still have a blank lounge card for the EK C-Class lounge at DXB. A friend of mine gave it to me. He received it when his flight was delayed for several hours some months ago, but he didn´t use it.

The card is not filled in, so maybe I can use this voucher if I won´t get any at check-in @:-)
I don´t think the lounge staff will call FRA and ask if they gave me an invitation

Lucky you ! This will work but make sure you fill in the details using scruffy handwriting as if it was written quickly by a check-in agent.

Will look more authentic.
