I got my Skywards silver when I was working in Dubia, at a hospital looking after all the medical needs of the Emirates flight crews. When any of them turned up in the Operating Room I'd joke about getting an upgrade on my next flight, don't know if thats why I keep getting upgraded but I'm not going to complain.

Never been upgraded

I am Gold and regularly fly longhaul MEL-DXB-CAI and MEL-AKL and have NEVER been upgraded in two years of loyalty. They have not repaid my loyalty now Qantas and Singapore get my business. I think they have been a victim of their own success. All MEL in and outbound flights are generally full.

As I mentioned in an above post, I was given an operational one-class of service upgrade. I recently bought an economy seat and was upgraded to business for NYC - DXB.

HOWEVER, I was told that I am not eligable for the dinner, limo, or any other ground perk that are offered business class passengers. The upgrade is only for the seat on the plane. I am not pleased I don't get the limo to and from the airport and other perks.

Does anyone have any suggestions on whom I should contact to get all the perks of business class or what my options are ?

Thanks !

If they registered you as an operational (involantary upgrade to J) then sadly you are ineligible for any of the perks

The upgrades that I was referring to (when you get all the perks) is confirmed upgrades by the airline for whatever reason and/or upgrading with miles

Cheers

Just returned from Johannesburg, where I was upgraded from Y to J from DXB to JNB. They upgraded some J class passengers to F to make room for the oversold Y class cabin.
So I think your chances for an upgrade to first are there, keep your fingers crossed!
Their computers search for skywards gold members first, then silver, then blue.

What is pre flight dinner? I am flying in business class tomorrow and in F 3 days from now?

Now that MEL-DXB enjoys 2 x daily flights to/from Dubai, there is rarely overselling of flights and therefore the chances of upgrade are slim. DXB-CAI also has a daily flight (2 on Fr) and not as much demand. For upgrades the best routes (in my experience) are DXB-LHR (not LGW so much), DXB-KHI, DXB-SIN, DXB-CMB, DXB-MAN

Cheers
