Emirates growing

Emirates is buying lots of planes. But is there really that much of a market for Dubai?

Thanks huey,
well here's a quick clue - transit traffic. Get off an EK flight in DXB and watch how much traffic heads straight for the transit line.

They have recently expanded their flights to Australia and New Zealand, I think they also want to continue on to the States from there.

Agree with chippy63. DXB is expanding to handle 60 million passengers by 2010. But listen to this... It is only a temporary solution as the government is looking to relocate the airport and expand it even further

EK already has a non-stop service to New York from Dubai. Could be looking at doing something cross-Pacific as well via down under to cover west coast of U.S.

Finally, they have placed the largest order of A380s with the first plane going into service by October 06. WOW!!!
