Skywards Upgrade Window
Hi There,
Looking to upgrade an Emirates Skywards Award ticket.The award ticket is a Business Flex ticket which I believe is required for the First upgrade. We have the Business Flex tickets all the way through from JFK to SYD. There has been a lot of extra availability going out of both JFK and DXB in F. My understanding is that if these seats are available from check in that they will grant the upgrade for the appropriate number of miles. Therefore a couple of questions:
1) When does this check in upgrade windows open
2) Given the transfer in DXB does the check in window open for the upgrade from DXB to SYD when I check in in NY or will I have to try and process it in the lounge in DXB.
3) We used AMEX miles and would need to transfer additional miles to EX from Amex in order to process the upgrade. Are the transfers instantaneous and would the agent see them in my account.

Yes. I had called the call centre to check availability for a Business to First upgrade on a DXB to LHR flight for the next day. As it was available, the agent stayed on the line while I transferred the additional miles to my EK Skywards account from AMEX to cover the upgrade. It was instant.
