Equipment Swaps
Applies to Australia only.
Hi FT, I've just received this email: Flights between Dubai and Adelaide Effective 28 October until 30 November 2018 and also 1 February until 15 April 2019, Emirates will operate a B777-200LR on flights EK440 and EK441 between Dubai and Adelaide instead of the current B777-300ER. Flights between Dubai and Perth Effective 7 November until 30 November 2018 and also 5 February until 15 April 2019, Emirates will operate 11 flights a week between Dubai and Perth instead of our current 14 weekly flights. EK424 will continue to operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday only. Our A380 nonstop services, EK420 and EK421, will continue to operate daily. Flights between Singapore and Melbourne Effective 15 January 2019, Emirates will operate a B777-300ER on flights EK404 and EK405 between Singapore and Melbourne instead of our current A380 service. From 2 November 2018 until 20 November 2018, the same flights will also be served by a B777-300ER aircraft. Flights between Dubai and Sydney via Bangkok Effective 15 January 2019, the daily EK418 and EK419 Dubai-Bangkok-Sydney v.v. services will operate a B777-300ER instead of our current A380. Flights between Dubai and Sydney Effective 27 October 2018, the daily EK416 and EK417 Dubai-Sydney v.v. services will operate a B777-300ER instead of our current A380. The Emirates schedule change procedure will only apply to services that have been cancelled. I escaped the chop, but it is frustrating. Unless you're in ADL, then you can fly on the new J! |
I’m not doing 14 hours on a 777 in F with no shower to SYD. I’m changing my flights. |
You'll be paying for the pleasure I'm afraid. Change procedure (ie waiver) only applies to cancelled flights.

Sorry off topic but why r they bad? Close proximity to shower/ toilets? Indeed. One thing is for sure: these are not FT’ers. Or have flown in F on the EK A380 before..... |

I wonder if they've run out of A380 crew? I saw on that other rather complain-y pilot site that some pilots are rostered in excess of 120 hours per month. Kinda scary.

My dad is affected by the Perth cancellation
Anyone familiar with the schedule change policy? Looking at the timings he might prefer to fly Perth-Singapore-Dubai - the timing of the direct flight leaving late/arriving early isn't ideal accomodation wise Otherwise presumably they'd be happy to accomodate the next day on the morning flight (currently he's been rebooked to the night before) |
Cheyru: well spotted! Yes, so you see I have learned, from FT as well as from personal experience. That’s life! (and the answer is: smaller suites with only 2 windows and less luggage space plus close to showers and curtain. Very much first world problems, especially after flying in Y yesterday) |
