EK25 GLA-DXB Cancelled

The arriving plane can't depart due to an oil leak.
passengers currently trying to get booked on a Manchester flight tonight or Glasgow flights tomorrow.

Can somebody check Economy availability for the Glasgow flights tomorrow for my parents who are currently at the airport? Much appreciated.

Mark

Think you mean EK28. Friends of mine got bussed down to MAN and only made it by the skin of their teeth.

I would never rely on published availability data in a situation where a carrier is rebooking passengers in IRROPS. EK could well have zeroed out availability for sale and hold available inventory for passengers just such as OP's parents.

Best for them to ask at the airport and also set up a 3-way call with EK and your parents so they can try a call center at the same time. Painful as this can be, it may be best.

Hope they handed out leaflets mentioning your rights under EC261/2004 regulation.

They generally do. One of my fellow ambassadors had family that got caught up in a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. They got a big leaflet that spelled out all the options, and their EC261 rights.

It was a mess according to my parents.
They were rebooked on a Manchester flight, but instead asked to get booked on the Glasgow flight. Then half an hour before the Manchester flight was leaving, got a phone call from EK staff at Manchester asking if they were 'on their way' as they were 'holding the plane' for them.

Then depsite being told there seats had been booked by 3 different people, 3 different times (paid for seats), got the to the airport today to find out they weren't booked.

Asked about the options to upgrade (cash) and was told there were no seats. Then got an email with an offer to upgrade for miles.

Parents are very upset by the state of things. Are booking CMB again later in the year and think taking QR.

Yes sorry meant EK28. Do you want to update the title?

Does anybody know what happened to the plane? Can't imagine it's still in GLA?

My parents weren't given one yesterday.

I can't change the thread title. If you can't do it you might need to ask a mod.

Neither Flightradar or the EK Source is showing it as having moved from Glasgow yet.

A video of the plane EK28 (A6-ENE) undergoing maintenance, at Glasgow Airport, can be found here:

Published on Friday 22 Jun 2018, the description reads:

This Emirates B777-300ER has suffered a fatal GE90 engine failure whilst at Glasgow Airport, Scotland. Emirates have flown a crack team out to strip off the old engine whilst a replacement is sent to Glasgow Prestwick Airport (more suited to freight) on Saturday 23-JUN-2018 This is the team at work with a Leggat crane taking the duff engine and cowlings off prior to the new engine being shipped up the M77 from PIK.

It is still on the ground as of this evening

Intresting that EK flew a crew out to fix the plane rather then use local crew or even some guys from LHR to fix the plane. I always thought competeting airlines assisted and supplied each other tech guys if needed?
I guess EK probbaly thought it was cheaper to get there own guys who know the plane rather then use exteranal companies?

The video was filmed from behind a perimeter fence by a, presumably, private citizen. That was their commentary under the video, nothing official from EK. Very possible they are a local (or UK-based) engineering team (and may have flown in from LHR, it didn't specify from where the team was flown out (though again, I'd not take that description/comment as authoritarian)

I have very little idea about planes compared to many folk here, I am sure. But maybe the limited number of 777s flying into Glasgow have meant they were better sending non-local crew?
