No availability in Y

Currently flying Christmas day with a 6 hour lay over in DXB flying MAN-SYD, (miles upgrade to Flex plus in J).

On EF the 23rd, 24th and 25th are all showing D availability all the way through with a much better connection time but no seats available in Y. Has anybody ever managed a work around for this?

Gold guarantee if you have status, you can get a seat but full flex Y pricing, probably cheaper to fly J

I couldn't believe my eyes seeing your post. I have been checking it constantly over the last week and even phoned EK last night to try my luck and it was all full, five minutes before I made this post, the same. I also have flight alerts set which haven't (as of yet) come through.

I may be wrong here, but isn't this only available if the flight is completely full in all classes? Ie., if there is one F seat available, you won't be able to use the Gold guarantee to get a Y seat.

I can understand your surprise.
I first put in the search on EF and got the same result as you did.
Then I checked award availably and added W bucket (Flex Award). I was most surprised to see W availability, if it is Y0 there should be none!
So I went back to the 'normal' availability request and hey presto it was the result I posted.....

(by the way, its Y4 now. Did you take 2?)

This could be why I wasn't offered it, it wasn't mentioned at all on any of the phone calls made over the last week....

Technically yes, but if you ask for full Y when there's a seat available on the plane, then they will pretty much override it anyway and put you on, unless revenue management has a different idea.
