The Return of F Saver ?
Doing a bit of price checking for some fares for next year (June/July) and then low and behold a long forgotten friend appears , F saver ! I truly thought EK was now only selling Flex/Flex Plus , and F Saver was a thing of the past ... clearly not. I would take a R2000 rand difference from J-F any day , however J is super expensive these days ex-South Africa.

We are going around then to MRU
ek really has has some good deals if you book in advance, for example we got 2 J savers MAN to DXB for around 1750 each a few months back for travel in jan returning in August - also immediately upgraded them to F. Cheapest Ive seen more recently in 2.5k each.
F savers dont stick around for long if you see a fare you like grab it!

Mid February mini do in MRU? Mrs. and I will be there also. Agree with you, m3red, the trick to reasonably priced XXX-DXB-MRU is booking far in advance. We managed to snag Z availability also. (Not quite as cheap from the US for the J). The EK F crews always seem super happy to go to this station as they get a nice hotel on the beach not far from the airport.

For R2000 extra (each way) indeed a no-brainer, just need to consider the high change and cancellation fees if there is any chance of this happening.
By the way: You are looking at exactly the same route as I am.
J savers out of CPT don’t seem to exist. Haven’t seen them for years ☹️

However, there were also some J saver fares available, especially on flights before 8 December and on those extra ones on 8 & 9 December. They were very competitively priced indeed!
EK11 - I used to take this very regularly many years ago, one of my favourites, think it was on the A330. Does EK still offer the "Good Morning London" Service?

All other times (and we fly there often) no problem booking saver J fare.

. The higher difference is probably due to the higher demand between UK/OZ travelers between the respective countries.
