Emirates orders 40 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners at DAS

Dedicated thread for discussion on new aircraft type to enter service with EK from 2022.

Press release: https://www.emirates.com/media-centr...-dubai-airshow

Interesting questions:

- How many seats per row in Y, will it suck like on other carriers?
- Will there be an F cabin or will these be two-class only?
- What kind of routes can we expect to see, shorter regional usage, a mix, or long and skinny to smaller cities?
- Does this kill the A380 or can we expect an order there still?
- 40 is a moderate order size for EK, are they going to also be ordering 330neos or 350s?

Boeing just tweeted a picture of the 787-9 so there could be a add on order.

A mixture of 2 and 3 class frames, the official EK announcement says.

Finally they ordered and it is something other than the 777 / 380.

I like some variety (perhaps not as bad as QR) but they needed something different, I was hoping for this or A350.

Shame its not the 350 though as most people complain of the 787 Y seating being crazy narrow.

I do wonder how the new F class will fit into this though, perhaps just one row.

Have only flown the 787-8 on QR in Y and if that’s anything to go by with the seat configuration then it will be a big thumbs down from me.

I believe the 787-10 comes with a choice of RR Trent 1000 or GE's GEnx-1Bs.

None of the articles I've read mention which one has been chosen. Any ideas whether it's all 40 frames with the same engine or a mix of both RR and GE?

Press release indicates no decision has been made on engines yet

With an all-new aircraft type I'd expect them to go with an A380-type J config

I love the 787 all series, but I find the manufacturer interiors (wash room doors and .....) to be cheap !! You feel it is all made of cheap plastic
