Does anyone know what happens to EK 434 now that the BNE-AKL service had been cancelled? Does the aircraft sit there for the next 15 hours for the 2100 departure as EK 435?

Yes. It has over the last few days anyway.

Chronic and worsening crew shortages are the main reason behind the reductions in frequency so as to allow other routes to be launched.

I find that hard to believe is the main reason.

But that`s really true.....there`s even a "waiting list" of pilots who want to leave EK.

Most of them leaving for China or returning to Europe or USA.

This was the main reason for EK to cancel the tags between Australia and New Zealand.

They'll all come crawling back next time there's a downturn and companies start cutting back.

From my "discussions" there's not a girl employee in DXB who doesn't aspire to be FA.
And I'm sure many others too.Usually when there are campaigns to hire FA,there are no shortage of applicants .That's not to say all are capable of being hired.

I would suspect that the truth is somewhere between this and EK management claiming there's no pilot shortage. I fear that the ~15 77Ws parked at DWC and the deferred 380s are more a problem of staff shortage, than curbing capacity. I'm not privy to yields, but I'm been surprised to see that routes like NRT/KIX/FRA/HAM/MRU/MAD haven't seen any recent capacity upgrades.

Maybe because shifting emphasis and ground staff temporarily to STN.

As there is another flight 50 minutes later not sure how much shifting can take place reasonably given the distance and travel times... I'd imagine STN is a standalone base.
