Low calorie meal

The low calorie lunch from EK773 which I'm currently on (main is fish with a tomato sauce and grilled peppers with rice}:

Update: the "light bites" served before landing consisted of a handful of dried peaches and some salmon between rice crackers.

If the Gluten Free meal in J is anything to go by, good luck on that one (and be sure to try the bread) ;)

I've got Hindu, Jain and Asian Vegetarian scheduled over the next 12 days. Gluten free will have to wait until later this year

LCML (low calorie), VLML (lacto ovo veg), VOML (oriental veg) are cancelled since 01 March

(wondering why the killed VLML.....cannot imagine that nobody requested it)

Source? I'm still on the flight that I just had the LCML on. I posted that photo an hour after I ate it. Last I checked it's 2nd March today.

I seriously doubt VLML would be cancelled as it is the default vegetarian meal choice. When I was vegetarian many years ago I ordered it across numerous carriers for a period of over a decade.

source is EK. They honouring the booked ones but you cannot book it anymore since 01Mar. Better half wanted a VLML and I got a nogo (still on the homepage tough...)

daisymay2 Mar 2, 2017 1:49 pm

Just checked my next two flights and still have VLML.
This really is bad news.
What next?
And while I'm moaning I don't like the new Manage my Booking page.

Kamalaasaa Mar 2, 2017 8:17 pm

VOML sounds like what you do with your SPML when you hit turbulence!

you can still select VLML or did you select it before and checked if they are still there?

skywardhunter Mar 2, 2017 10:02 pm

Given my lack of op-ups (I was just on an oversold flight to HYD, traditionally the perfect flight for an op-up :() I have decided to discontinue the SPML challenge on oversold/high load flights for the time being, I can't help but suspect they won't op-up someone with a SPML order.

On a positive note, I'll be posting the Jain meal shortly (negative note, it smelt so bad I didn't try it).

Yes I selected it before and checked that it's still there after reading this thread.
Its not listed as an option on the meal options now though:td:

Asian Vegetarian Meal

Currently on EK770 with decent WiFi and just had a decent AVML breakfast. A pretty thick and hard South Asian flatbread (too thick to be roti, think they were going for paratha but no filling), potatoes fried with spinach and some spices and some sort of Indian veg patty.

Quite nice, pleasant flavour with a bit of spice but not actually spicy. Just a bit dry with the only moisture in the dish coming from the spinach and residual oil. Also no croissant unfortunately.

Lunch will follow later on.

You have a few options:

AVML (Asian Vegetarian)
VJML (Jain Vegetarian)
LFML (Low Fat Meal)
VGML (Vegetarian, which is also Vegan)

You can browse this on the website here.

The SPML site shows cakes (which we've all read about already) but lists Champagne... i know this is probably mostly for Y but has anyone tried this and know what the menu is? Maybe P2 rose? :)

In Y one can buy piccolo Moet for 25USD unless there's another champagne option you refer to?

Metanoia Oct 11, 2017 5:29 pm

I saw this on the dietary requirements page, so i figured it was separate from the way-overpriced split of Moet. At $12 it was quite reasonable for the quality of the champagne - my local wine shop sells them at retail for $12.99.

Interesting, haven't heard of this. Maybe I'll order it for next week's flight to try it out (and I have been lax lately in this challenge)

Ugh, the editor is screwed up, can't quote you directly.

Although not free, I'm guessing this will be a fun one!

Lax lately in this challenge skywardhunter? It’s the middle of October. You better get a shifty on, not much of 2017 left :D:D

It was messing with my op-ups :D and eternal didn't come to the party.

Regarding the champagne meal, it's Laurent Perrier and 95USD. Bit pricey for my taste

eternaltransit Oct 12, 2017 4:05 am

I'm storing up all my SPMLs for a large burst at the end of this year/early 2018 :s

sydtogla Oct 12, 2017 5:04 am

Yikes. $95 is possibly decent if it's the rosé. Then again, it's the rosé.

Ugh, $95 for LP and I'm guessing its their ordinary NV. You might have convinced me just taking Moet from J. But definitely Veuve or Moet Rose though. As long as I get proper glassware. :)

Moet is like 35$ in Cape Town, not really much more expensive

I think I just prefer the Moet to LP Brut... but yeah it's not much more expensive. :)
