Every flight to Sydney (well, 412) has been operated by one of the newer EU* frames for the past 11 days.
Must be something special about that route and flight too much of a coincidence that its been a brand new(ish) one every day solid for over 11 days now.
People say theres no idea what plane will be operating the route until that day well if you want one of the newer 380s guaranteed, fly on 412.
By comparison, Brisbane (434) was EDA yesterday.

Perth's been similar of late. However, back before they demoted the morning flight, it got more of the spankers and less of the broilers. Now its mainly spankers for the night flight and a mix of wheezy squeezies for the morning.

Just in case its a little opaque ... spankers = brand new (and wheezy squeezies = old, cramped 777s)

I flew on the new RR powered two class EPU frame a few days ago on the way to BKK in Y. The front and middle cabins on the upper deck are Y and the rear, J. I was able to reserve a seat at the time of booking the ticket but the upper deck seat map was not presented at that time and the check-in staff did not offer these seats either. I did not check-in online so not sure if the upper deck Y seat map would have been visible at that time or not. Once I got on-board, I was offered the option of moving up. The flight was very quiet; no more than 20 in total in both upper deck Y cabins.
When I got upstairs, I was informed that if I decide to take a seat in the middle (Y) cabin, I will have to move to the front cabin just before landing. This is to enable the J passengers getting off the plane first since the upper deck door is in the middle cabin. It would be interesting to see how EK intend to implement this when both Y cabins are full!
Seating was 2-4-2 with stowage space by the side of the window seats; i.e. under the windows with top opening lids (like the ones on the upper deck of some 747s).
Didn't know about the new J interior so didn't bother to have a look!
Apologies if there is a separate thread on this subject….
