Pretty sure they're in 10-year leases, aren't they? First deliveries in 2008 or so? So they can start returning next year. We don't know the details of the contracts of course...

12 year is the norm for EK's fleet iirc, but of course, only they know for sure!

Emirates 777-300 (A6-EMV) moved to DWC for storage earlier today.

This means there are only two active 773's in service for EK, A6-EMQ and A6-EMX.
The rest are in storage / probably preparing for retirement.

You mean 18-year duration of the lease agreement or an A380 can fly for 18 years? Either way what source?

I find it strange they have 77W's in storage but still have 773's in service.

I think someone told me the other days it's an 18 year life span then onto be retro fit for cargo. Maybe less than 18 then to cargo not sure I'll ask next week.

Cargo? That's interesting. There's currently no dedicated freighter version of the A380

Right, FedEx and UPS who ordered the A380F, but they cancelled the entire A380F.

Sorta off-topic but one of the older 773's (A6-EMT), which has been out of service since July operated a flight today, EK600 from Dubai to Karachi, Pakistan.
Return (EK601) has been cancelled due to technical reasons.

The aircraft was just released from storage, and it goes tech on the first flight it operates immediately after?

Disgusting. Probably happened at KHI considering the airport is appalling.

On a more serious note (and slightly off topic as well), when there is a mouse problem onboard, how does one get rid of it?

Aircraft gets fumigated. There was some mention of it recently, where a rodent was spotted before takeoff. Passengers were offloaded and aircraft was fumigated. Considerable delay, like 24 hours.....

I guess they got the job done, the aircraft returned to DXB today at 12:30.
