Highly doubt this is for high value cargo. If there was a high value shipment, the client would presumable charter a freighter as it would be far more economic. Sure, it's odd (but possible) that EK could have offered their 777 with pax service if the numbers added up. But it would be highly unusal/ a business risk for EK to do so. My money is on a spike in pax demand due to school hols warranting additional service, along with excess airframes EK has. Sure, there must be reasonable cargo demand on these routes to fill (or partiall fill) excess cargo demand, but the driving factor and key revenue generator would be passenger demand.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but this year under KHDA instructions a lot of schools in Dubai are adding an extra week of holiday for Xmas. So a lot of schools now break up around the 14th December returning on 7 Jan.

Taipei flight downgraded
On 17 December the Dubai Taipei EK 366 and EK 367 get downgraded from a A380 with three classes to a two class (no First).
Any way to check if this is happening in other days in December or January? I was happy to see First going to Taipei but this downgrade makes me worry...

EK dropping F from DXB/LGW/DXB for some A380 flts
Some flights in Nov/Dec will be Y/J configuration only, adding of course many Y seats per flight on this route.

I've just noticed that EK have updated their online timetable search app. The new one looks nicer but it fails in two key aspects: it doesn't specify either the type of aircraft (77L, 773, 77W all listed as 777) nor the class of service (so no idea if you'll get a 3-class or a 2-class aircraft). Hmmm.

With the unfolding situation in Zim , anyone know or want to throw in their 2c in regards to the impact this will have on the routing to Harare (HRE) ? Additionally i hope the events across the border do not give some of South Africa's politicians some ideas ...
