A380 changes
Apologies if it is noted elsewhere, but BT have an article about the 85th A380 - and the changes to Y and J.
The biggest change to J seems to be that the overhead bins are gone for the aisle/window seats...which is even more of a reason to avoid the middle seats! Article here - https://www.businesstraveller.com/bu...nfigured-a380/ M |
The press release was mentioned in the fleet guide thread a couple of days ago (post #157), but no discussion on it.

Thanks for the links!
I'm surprised no photos the enlarged TV etc. M |
Looks to me like a positive spin on a weight reduction program and low MTOW deliveries without CRAs. Less than 8 hrs don't need horizontal rest and saves money.

It did not fly yet (check on Flightradar24.com the reg. A6-EUH).

It says in the article: "The next generation A380s are expected to serve more ultra-long haul routes."
I think a twin engine is more efficient in liters fuel per passenger km than a quad engine. But does the article mean the A380neo ? Or a new twin engine version of the A380 ? |

I thought that A350 will (also) be the plane for such routes. Currently, the longest flight is done by an A380 (DXB-AKL) at a cost of 100 unbookable seats (otherwise it won't make the 14000km to AKL), but mostly it is a B777L without seating restrictions.

Does like a bit BAish (777dormitory wise). I like the rear cabin, seat 23 A/K in particular.
That picture is a intense. Not far off looking like a kaleidoscope. Safe & Happy Travels S |

The FT article mentioned in-seat minibars. Does that mean the onboard bar is going away? On my next EK flight, I was planning to fly in J to experience this on the 14+ hour TATL route.
