You mustn't get too hung up on the greeting thing ime otherwise you run the risk of making yourself a little irritated for no reason.

I caught myself doing this the other day - in J, saw csv and purser doing a couple of greetings and mid flight check ups for two pax but ignoring the rest of the cabin although it was half empty. Ok, this was slightly annoying - then it turns out it was two iOs (no op-up for them!) so understandable if they only did them and no one else.

Reality and status ego pop complete! Reminder and lesson learnt to chill about it

Don't really get worked up about it. It only serves a purpose in Y if they're offering an early meal or something. Just noting that pursers / seniors do play games.

Agreed - the inconsistency is the error imho, not in not having the greeting.

Seems to be better lately ime, either it doesn't happen at all or it's everyone. Or I've been asleep from before take-off to cruise and entirely missed it!

I virtually always get it in Y, where the value is the fast track card. Closer to 65% success rate on the greeting in J

I have a stack of about 100 of them for DXB, if you want

Actually, I have had some success with merely showing the person at the fast track security queue at DXB the tier status on my bp to get access.

Or if you have absolutely no shame, you can do what I sometimes see which is people just ducking under the barriers to access it

Its not EK's fault as its not strictly as per the T and C.

I'm usually on EK510 which is at 0435 and that's when the airport becomes like a ghost town. Most of my potential guests would have departed long before me. :-(
With respect (as they say ...), may I ask why you persist with these attempts when you know all too well that it is against the rules ?

I often find they don't actually check so I also have a handful (not even close to 100) that I lug around with me in my laptop bag.

Best is to get e-Gate if your nationality allows you to.

Also, my nationality doesn't.

I am an eternal optimist. Plenty of unwritten rules in the lounges like F without status being allowed a guest.

I once accidentally walked into F as a Gold in J. Muscle memory from
plat days. They let me in. Only realised my mistake when I saw the shop, and when I couldn't find my wife and son whom I was supposed to be meeting!

Not so fun for the staff when you are the 1000th person that day asking for special treatment though! Par for the course in hospitality though - pax trying it on. No problem there as graciously rejecting is part of the job.

The problem is when you get a pax who argues about it (e.g. has lost face in front of their family/guest) or goes on an angry rant or even one pax whom security had to be called to due to the obscenities he came up with after rejection!

Probably why it is much less successful at the J lounge and outstations than F at DXB
