Waitlist SIN-DXB - lounge access and chances?
Hello
I have a Skywards reception booking from SIN to GLA with EK in First (Flex).
I am currently waitlisted for the evening fight tonight from SIN - the DXB - GLA segment shows as confirmed.
Expert Flyer shows 2 seats in F and A class - Emirates.com only allows 2 pax to book in 1st. Business and Economy an completely sold out on the SIN - DXB flight.
Anyone want to hazard a guess at my chances of getting on this flight?
Also - if I go to the airport to loiter - do i get lounge access without a BP? Or do I get a BP for security but no seat?

Sounds like the flight is oversold, so they may need those 2 seats for passengers holding confirmed tickets (op ups).
Please report back. No way will you be allowed airside/into a lounge without a boarding pass.

15 mins till I find out. Interestingly they asked if I would take business or economy. I checked but no refund of miles offered. I said yes as I'd like to get home but it does make me wonder... Should some miles be offered?

You might be able to ask for a standby boarding pass to get you airside, where you can wait at the lounge/transfer desk. Typically you'd only get that around an hour before departure though, which is when you'd see if you cleared the waitlist, so it might not be that useful but you never know, kindly agents and all that!

If either or both of those seats were sold at 11k a pop, then they are still well ahead when having to to offer payment/inducements to those with confirmed tickets who end up denied travel (whether voluntary or involuntary)

While waiting at check in desk, I made friends with an ek cabin crew who was flying standby too (alas she didn't make it...). She had an app that showed capacity on y,c,f, and how many pax had checked in. It was pretty neat. Despite my best efforts, she couldn't share!
My ek y experience was...perfectly adequate, despite being stuck with a window seat. Now in first lounge at DXB.
WOW. Really wow! So big!

Your are right of course. Must be tricky bumping f pax though, regardless of class or price; it's not like (more) champagne in the lounge is much of a sweetner.

So I got on the flight...as the last pax in y. First and business both checked in full. Gate agent did suggest I contact skywards as I will get something back for 'downgrade'. I didn't get my BP until 45 mins prior to takeoff so I had to hustle to gate, definitely no time for lounge.
