So I just noticed on Emirates website you can use Emirates points to redeem JAL flights (from here...): http://www.emirates.com/english/skyw...-partners.aspx

I note that it states a Business return fare is 85,000 points from Australia to Japan and vice versa. This is fantastic news, if true, as I have exactly 172,000 points that I was wanting to use next year (our plan was to fly to Singapore via Melbourne, one way business, one way economy, as that was the best I could do with our tickets!).

But, alas, I cannot seem to see how to book this on the JAL website, to which Emirates redirects. And no flights show up when I try and search via Emirates (it just comes up with errors, as it often does - e.g. even to Kuala Lumpur).

So, my question is - how do you actually book this? And is there any issue if the origin is Sydney - Japan return, rather than Japan - Sydney?

Any information greatly appreciated!

As it transpires, I just called Emirates and they were very helpful: book over the phone, 85,000 is correct.

Now to review the product itself.

Yeah virtuall all Skywards partner redemptions need to be booked over the phone, that's a rare occasion where US carriers seem to be a step ahead
