Flaky IT? OLCI Issues

Hi All

Trying to do OLCI for my flights on 1st/2nd July. Well within the 48 hour window and have received SMS & E-mail notification that OLCI is now open for my flights. iOS App also showing check in open.

Attempted to OLCI on laptop & iOS App and not allowing to check in. Told to contact EK CS if issue persists so contacted EK CS and they said the booking is okay and put it down to an IT issue and to try again in an hour or so.

Tried both options again but going in to MMB first on my laptop, it said I had no seat selected . Seats have been selected since I booked. Re-selected for both flights again (only two seats available to select from on my DXB-GLA but luckily got my original one ).

Personally can't think of having these issues before but is this a regular occurrence with OLCI or could it be the connecting flight on 2nd July that's throwing this out?

Safe & Happy Travels

Maybe seat assignment changed due to overbooking and you got an op-up (very very early one at that) and that's why you can't do OLCI. They may have not assigned a new seat yet in the higher cabin but somehow blocked you from checking in for Y/J. Unless you're flying F, then it's just odd.

It may be then, that the aircraft has been changed from a 3 class to a 2 class.

I was originally thinking this and would have been very, very annoyed if it was the case as I have already changed my flights due to my original DXB-GLA flight being changed to a two class but I was able to re-select my seats in F on both flights.

Expertflyer also shows that the flights are operating with F (with the caveat that last minute substitutions can happen).

If they do sub either of the flights for a two class, then there will be a large number of very unhappy pax. The aircraft from DXB to PEK that will be operating my PEK-DXB flight currently has a high F & J load. My flight to GLA has only got one seat left in F.

I am just hoping it is an IT glitch or that because my DXB-GLA flight is on 2nd July is just throwing the website out a little.

Will call them again soon as the CS agent said to try in a couple of hours after I called and it is coming up soon.

Just called EK again as still not able to OLCI after the first agent said to leave it for a couple of hours.

The second agent checked and confirmed the booking is fine, all details required are completed and that it is only because OLCI is not open yet (despite receiving and SMS, e-mail and the iOS App saying that OLCI is open).

May be a local thing here in PEK so I'll try a little later.

Not all countries allow checkin at 48hrs. Some limit to 36/24 hours.

All EK destinations have 48h web check-in.

I assume the flight is way over in Y and even J, so the have offload pax and have therefore blocked the web check-in (had that twice before)

I've been told by the telephone agents twice that my booking and everything is okay and that it seemed to be a technical issue. When I first tried early hours of this morning (despite SMS, e-mail & app saying OLCI was open) the message I got was that OLCI was not open for my flight. When I tried later it is now saying, 'We can't check you in judt now because you have a connecting flight or are connecting from another airline' .

Sod it, I'll try once more later and if not then do it at the airport. The last agent assured me it was all okay.

Try and get to the airport early, so you can head off any possible downgrade. I'm not saying that's the reason you can't check in, but just in case You can then enjoy the lounge for a bit longer.

On the phone to them just now. CS agent has checked and for some reason the airport haven't opened up OLCI. She is sending them an e-mail as we speak to try and get them to open it up. No issues with ticketing and on the seat map for the PEK departure I am the only pax in First that has chosen a seat. There were two other seat chosen earlier today.

Will try later.

Update

OLCI finally opened at around 21:00 local time.

All checked in and Chauffeur company called today to confirm my pick-up .

Was starting to worry a bit as when checking MMB earlier, there was a strange message about checking that the flight had been paid for (it was, in April) otherwise it would auto-cancel the ticket.

Also got a message on the app when I opened it up earlier, "there are no bookings for you at this time."

Plus the one earlier on where my seats had been de-selected.

And finally as I was going through OLCI, on the passenger details page, told me that I didn't have a seat selected for the DXB-GLA flight (this was the one I was concerned about as there was only 1 seat left when I checked earlier).

Phew.......Going to bed now. Might send an e-mail to EK tomorrow thanking the CS agents who tried to find out what the problems were and giving reassurance (needed it with some of the messages I was getting) and making them aware that their IT had me on edge all day .

Safe & Happy Travels

Even US departures? AFAIK TSA limits OLCI to 24hrs. Of course they may have changed it, I normally only fly EK going to US not from nowadays.

For me, it has always shown that for the second leg of a trip on the first OLCI screen. As you say, when you get to the next page, the original seat assignment is still in place. Been like that for years.
