Buying Miles

Hi, do Emirates ever offer bonus miles when you purchase miles and the same with Amex points transfers? I've never seen them offer a bonus for either

If you really want skywards miles then a better optionnis to buy starwood (spg) points if you have an SPG account.

On spg you can buy 1000 star points for $35
EK wants $40 for 1000 skywards miles

Normally star points transfer to skywards miles at 1:1

BUT

If you have 20000 starpoints you can transfer them to skywards and you can get a 5000 skywards bonus

I.e 20000 star points becomes 25000 skywards.

Moreover Starpoints are frequently on offer for a 25% discount which makes it a no brainer.

The only catch is that it takes a few days to transfer from starpoints on spg to skywards on EK once the request is made.

Thanks for the reply, I'm planning the SPG route for Khris flyer miles, this added to their 15% on line booking makes it a reasonable deal. I was wondering about Emiriates miles as I have a few banked and it was a top up.

If you're UK based, the MBNA Emirates dual credit card gives you plenty of bonus miles (and, I believe, a 25% discount on purchasing miles).

10,000 on Elite and 5,000 on the regular card isn't plenty, it's paltry in comparison to what EmiratesNBD, ADCB etc in the UAE offer. The UK always gets the raw deal which is made worse now by the new EU interchange fee.

But yes, the 25% discount still exists and is limited to 25,000 miles per calendar year, providing you have at least on earning activity on the account for that year. In all honesty, SPG to SkyWards is the best option IMO.
