Positive experience today

Well having posted recently about the phony gold greeting I had the opposite experience today on EK77 to Nice.

The purser Genesis was really impressive. Sincere with the gold greeting and didn't need to rustle the manifest to find my name.

Also I asked him to distribute 5 bottles of champagne to clients dotted around the cabin which he did very professionally. Nothing was too much trouble and all done cheerfully with a smile. In fact when I saw him in at baggage reclaim he remembered my name and wished me a happy weekend.

Reminded me of why EK is my airline of choice.

the purser's name was Genesis?

I'm curious about the champagne distribution... in Y and you paid for it? Or you asked him to get 5 of the on-board catered bottles in J/F and give an entire bottle to each of the 5? Or you brought your own?

Dear OP,
Why didn't you distribute the bottles yourself ? It would have been a perfect (additional) PR opportunity towards your clients. Perhaps, were you sitting in a different class ?

Ah OP clarified, Y and paid for the champagne. It makes sense as a gesture that the crew distribute it subtly, rather than OP strutting around Y between the other pax jumping up for the law and the meal and drinks service with an armful of champagne bottles. That might look like more of a bachelor party than a business group then

It's like buying someone in a bar a drink and having the bartender bring it over and say 'courtesy of the gentleman in the hat' like the movies. Don't know if people do that in the real world though.

Anyway as to the actual point being made, very happy to hear a positive experience. We unfortunately have a bias towards sharing negative experiences so these are few and far between, thanks OP.

I could have done, however:

1. I had just come off another overnight flight from Mauritius and was knackered.

2. I didn't know where they were sitting.

3. Trying to navigate around Y is never easy when the flight is full (there wasn't an empty seat).

4. I wasn't trying to show off and it got the job done in a low key way.

The clients were happy so it achieved the objective.
