Qatar 777/787 J vs Emirates 777-300 J (upgrading one leg to F)

Hi guys!

What would you do? I am planning to take a trip to Japan in November and I have 2 options:

1. Qatar
Sao Paulo - Doha: 777 old business class flat bed
Doha - Haneda (Tokyo) 787 new business class flat bed
U$ 4320,00

2. Emirates:
Sao Paulo - Dubai 777 300 angled flat bed
Dubai - Narita( Tokyo) 777 300 angled flat bed
U$ 4540,00
I have enough miles to upgrade one leg to F from Sao Paulo to Tokyo (Gold at Emirates) . I have flown F once (A380) and love it.

Any comment(s) would be highly appreciated.

Assuming 2 pax? You haven't mentioned your priorities, if it is sleep, connectivity, food quality, on board service, ground service, connection time (or what the connection time of those options is).

Given you can upgrade one leg to F I'd go with EK,though no doubt the new 788 J in QR would be superior to EK 77W J in hard product. The angle on the seat in EK 77W J is noticeable but not significant.

EDIT: Also if 2 pax 2-3-2 in EK 77W not a major issue in J as you can have the window seats and I'm sure your companion would understand the stepping over each other.

Based on my recent trips on both, my vote: QR. Better seats (wider and flat), food (dine on demand for J), on board service. Ground service about the same but QR has better J lounge. EK still have the advantages when it comes to connectivity and network but since both QR and EK operate only one daily flight to both Sao Paolo and Narita, I suspect the connection times are similar.

OP has choice of F on one of the sectors if flying EK, IMHO that shifts the equation heavily in favour of EK. However if all J I'd agree with QR.

Personally I would take QR, and spend the EK miles on something else.

QR - cheaper and better product on the 777/787.

I suspect the EK IFE would be better though.

I would agree the volume of choices on EK is larger but my recent trip in QR J impressed me with the number of recently released flilms that I actually wanted to watch.
