First Class Upgrade: MXP to JFK

Hi all,

I booked 2 business class tickets, MXP to JFK, in May. Was hoping to upgrade to first class with miles. I don't have status with Emirates.

Right now, they say that only 1 seat is available for upgrade.

Two questions:

1) Other than calling them, is there any good way to tell if there's availability for 2 upgrade seats? I tried ExpertFlyer, but that seems to say there are no seats available for upgrade even though there is 1 for sure.

2) If anyone has experience with this route, is it only likely that a seat would open up within a few days of the flight (if at all)? There are only 3 seats reserved in first right now. So, it's pretty empty. Surprised there's only 1 seat available for upgrade.

Thanks all!

David

They may not release reward space until check in. EK gets a lot of last minute first passengers rocking up and paying full fare. The seat map is also not conclusive of the actual number booked in.

As for checking you can search for first reward seats by doing a dummy booking on the system or by calling. Expert flyer is pretty useless these days.

do you have Emirates miles - and assume you checked to see how much it would cost.
