Anyone fly from IAH regularly in F? My buddy and I are taking the flight in DEC, and hoping for an empty cabin.. My buddy has never flown EK F, so I'm hoping his expectations are exceeded.. I'm assuming There is a high demand in J/Y, but not F.. Hopefully there won't be any OP ups... We are hoping to take full advantage of the service.. It's funny how buying a ticket through to BKK is almost half as much as just to DXB... Airlines...

It Makes perfect sense that a direct flight is cheaper than an indirect one.

No idea re loads on that route but EK is supposed to be protecting the F cabin a bit more but doubt that's the reality if they can oversell J. Service should not in theory be impacted whether it's full or not - if you want a private cabin fly private jet.

As m3red correctly suggests, Emirates will, in practice, not shy away from J-F op-ups if it suits their requirements on any given flight/day.

EK do tend to protect their F cabins more 'rigorously' than many carriers, but much less so than several others.

I have flown in F cabins with EK as the one & only pax, and have flown in them where every seat is taken. The former is very rare, and something in between those two scenarios is of course the most common.

Not sure what you mean by taking "full advantage of the service" to be honest I find, IME, that food & drink offerings are the same regardless of loads, as is the F class service & overall comfort. I have, on rare occasions, been bothered a little by unusually-noisy other F pax. But - that apart - I guess the only difference is that crew have more time to chat to pax (and amongst themselves of course !) in a 'lighter' cabin. However this is irrelevant for many fellow regulars I know, who tend instead to be absorbed by the ICE - or simply sleep.

I'm sure you will have a great flight, but my own personal tip for your 'first-timer' buddy would be to not set expectations too high. EK are a good carrier, no doubt. But this is not a private jet or Claridges Hotel, remember

I've never thought it's worth obsessing over whether an F cabin is likely to be full or not - if only because things invariably turn out differently on the day (eg cabins that were 'expected' to be near-empty can end up being near-full on actual departure and - occasionally - v.v. too)

For me personally an 'issue' only arises when you can't get your preferred seat.

RE: Full and empty.. I've been in both situations.. Service is great when it's full of course.. Nonetheless I've found having an empty F cabin is pretty damn amazing.. We are by all means not needy.. I'm the kind of pax who (depending on the crew) says leave me with the bottle, and I'll ring you when I need a new one.. Love EK F no matter what..

Not available on your stated route of course, but for a more 'exclusive' experience you should be thinking of booking Etihad's The Residence (assuming you haven't yet done so .....?)

For what it's worth, expertflyer random sampling shows EK212 F about half full on average most days in Dec. Obviously it will change closer to flight time.

The last few F's i've taken from the US have only had 3-4 pax including myself, J/Y is always pretty full though..

Edit: thinking about it, west coast departure cities have always had more people in F vs east coast
