Checking In Additional Bag in Transit

Hi all.

I'll be flying BOM-ACC in a few days and I'll be having a roughly 6 hour layover in DXB. I'll be leaving the airport for a quick meeting during this time. My question is will I be able to check in an additional piece of luggage in DXB or would I have to check-in my bags to DXB from BOM, collect them at baggage claim and then recheck them all in?

Thanks

definitely possible - EK tried to take a bag off me at the gate once - I assume if you can gate check ie like a buggy you can also check a bag.

I have done this many times. No issue provided you don't exceed your total baggage allowance.

Simple solution to exceeding your allowance: $$$$

They should only charge you the excess ex-DXB though, not for the entire journey.

Okay great. Thanks a lot guys. Now my second question is this:

Would I be able to buy an excess baggage voucher, and NOT utilise the extra weight ex-BOM? Instead I'd only use the weight ex-DXB.

Thanks
