That’s an X class RBD and fare group Special. Earns 50% of distance flown on AS.

Thanks, so that X was from the beginning of my quoted area right? I kept looking for this "4th letter from the right" type thing and that's where I thought it might be S class.

That "X" refers to connection in DXB (as opposed to stopover)

The fare basis for each outbound/inbound pricing unit is put after the cash fare, so in your case: XXLFRUS4 which is the same for both out and inbound.

The fare type is the first letter (the RBD): X

For EK fare group purposes you look 4th from the right (basically the last 3 letters of an EK fare are the country it originates from and an identifier, so US4), which is “R” - which in EK parlance means special.

Helpfully they also put Special in the endorsement box!

Wow, I'm confused, at least I know it's X so I'm all good on the miles end.

The word special is in there somewhere, I remember reading Special and something to the effect of ineligible for upgrades.

Thanks gang

Yep it's a special fare. No miles upgrades.

That's fine, I'm only concerned about earning miles . Though this 3-4-3 777 is really unappealing. I was hoping EK would offer a bit more comfort, too bad the 380 doesn't fly to SEA and I couldn't route through LAX/SFO without spending a bunch more money.

I have LAX to Dubai on a round trip X fare which appears that I will only earn 2100 miles. It looks like if I use my Alaska number I will get 50% of miles flown so about 8,000. 1) does that appear correct? 2) better to go with Alaska since I don’t regularly earn on emirates?

Hi Kuroko or anyone who can help me find the answer

Thanks for your explanation, may i know what is the 5th letter from the isn't? is it indicates the fare too?

example fare basis:
WHWRFAU1 or EHXPFAU1

Does R or P indicates as Saver/Special Fare? since your answer said it's for 4th letter from the right.

Thanks in advance
