Upgrade chance
Myself and my partner are flying from PER to DUB via DXB on 21st May on EK421/EK161.
We are both upgraded to J for the DXB-DUB leg but due to limited miles at the time we split our booking and upgraded one of us for the PER-DXB leg.
Typically upgrade availability disappeared the day before we gained enough miles for the last upgrade. That was over a month ago.
EF shows that there is still 19 seats available in J (including 4 No. blocked) and Y looks approx half full.
I got in touch with EK via email pleading with them to release one seat for upgrade but was given the standard response to wait until availability appears.
Is there anything I can do apart from waiting for availability?
It's part of my master plan around a very important question I will be asking her earlier that day.
Thanks in advance.

You're pretty close to flight date so I think you should be ok:
- If there are still seats available, they may open up D class a couple days prior
- Good chance you can upgrade at check-in (and since she's already upgraded, you can share her car)
Do note that 19 unassigned seats on the seat map does not mean actual seat availability. EF does show at least" F4/J7/Y9 (max for each bucket).
Your chances are good!
Good luck on the question! (ask her on the plane, the crew will love it)

Thanks for your reply extramileage.
Just secured the final upgrade there now. I had been checking hourly for the last week!
Plus managed to secure the seat next me (16E and 16F) which I believe are best if travelling together.
I will report back with how everything goes.
