Error trying to purchase ex CMB flight

Morning,

Its common knowledge that booking ex-cmb flights is a lot cheaper than direct from DXB.
I am trying to purchase CMB-GRU with a stop over in DXB in both ways one for just over two weeks one for a couple of days. I was able to price this up successfully earlier in the week but today its showing an error unable to price selected flights try selecting another day - or something very similar!

I have played around with the dates of all legs with no success, flights will all be in F (but have also tried J).

Is there a trick to this?

I've been trying to book something for some time. Seems they've stopped a stopover on the outbound.

So I would suggest you pick the 5.20pm from Cmb then depart to gru the next morning (gives you the night at least) then depart on 261 at 8.35.

I would then try and add a stopover on the return, I do believe its a one month max return journey though.

Thanks m3red I'll take a look at that and see if that works, alternatively is there another location that I could use to get a similar deal I know Cairo was good at one point but doesn't seem so at the moment. I would ideally like a break before the two trips longer than a night - and its not a must thast I see my Bro so would be happy with a quick airport turnaround

Thanks for this m3red, I'll take a look into that but ideally I would like a bit of a longer break in between. Is there another location that i could use instead of CMB? even if its just a quick airport turnaround? I know Cairo was good at one stage but its not bringing back good fairs at the moment - or at least on the route I want.

Quick update on this, I was finally able to book my ticket this morning (have tried near enough every day in between) not sure why i didn't get the error this time but glad its all booked!

A quick q that I am sure i already know the answer to - I will be flying J to CMB and will be heading to the airport with my gf in Y to JNB for work (flight is about 5 mins apart). She will be able to share the car with me but I assume she will not be able to check in at the Business check in with me? Same with access to the lounge? - She is a blue so no access otherwise.

She has been able to check in and go to lounge with me before (while both in Y me as a gold) but assuming as she is on a different flight it wont be allowed this time?

She can check in with you at the J desk. No access to lounge, unless the receptionists are feeling particularly generous with you

Thanks for the reply eternaltransit - great to hear that she can check in with me, didn't expect that. Lounge is not to much of an issue we aim to get to the airport as late as possible in any case and likely to not be departing in the same concourse.

I should perhaps be more specific: whilst technically they could tell your gf to go to the other side and check in there, I have never had it happen to someone travelling with me. You could always just use mobile or self check-in as well

YMMV.

It's a one month return right? Or it won't price?

Yep, booking terms state 1 month max from first flight, which i just fall into - although I didn't pick the dates specifically for that just worked out bang on!

They also seem to have a blackout period from mid June, was looking to do a similar flight but to the US.

Ex CMB fares in business and first do not allow stopovers in DXB if they are valid for more than 1 month (not even an F class fare). However it is possible with all promo fares / max. stay 1 month (mostly 1 free in DXB, other at 50USD)

I have been trying to look for flights ex-CMB for the past couple of weeks but any stop over in DXB is bumping up the price ridiculously high!

Is there another flight starter location that allows for competitive prices as well as as stop over in DXB?
