I received this E-Mail this morning about Emirates latest Lisbon sale.
There’s never been a better time to book that holiday you've been dreaming of. Escape the everyday with up to 47% off* Economy Class fares to selected destinations, including:
• Kuala Lumpur from EUR 497
• Bangkok from EUR 559
• Phuket from EUR 698
This exclusive offer is available for five days only. To make the most of these fares, book by 14 April and travel by 14 June 2015.
On checking the current prices on line from LIS-BKK the only tickets available in May is flex, the cost is 946 Euros in Y. I assume once the sale starts although the price will go down, to the above price, the ticket would no longer be a flex it would be restricted. So in reality they are hardly giving you anything, hence this is hardly a sale.

It's better for the majority of people that aren't loyal to Ek and are price sensitive - I've seen some of the lowest fares ever recently in y to Lhr

They are actually special tickets that will give you 1500 miles from LIS-BKK, but no upgrades or refunds permitted. However for another 50 euros you can have a saver fare and earn 2100 miles, a refund if you pay 200 euros before departure and upgrade for 98750. Like you say they are good for individuals who just travel long haul once a year, but if you travel frequently not good for the skywards account. Still never mind in twelve months time there will be a lot less golds and a lot more room in Ek's lounges around the globe.
