Upgraded as predicted, very reliable on Hyderabad flights, around 75% success rate. Details updated in previous post. Disappointing service on EK773 in J today though

Have a set of 3 young travellers next to me on EK6 LHR-DXB. Oversold on their Birmingham BHX flight so they got op-upped to business and chauffer drive to LHR. No status!

I'd take that deal. Makes sense if it's non-status as they probably needed 3 pax and preferred a group travelling together. And younger means probably more tolerant to the 90 minute drive

Lady at check in said economy was oversold by 2 and there were 2 plats in economy, called supervisor and came back to say expect a new boarding pass at the gate, even got 23-K

Other item worth noting is the gate entrance on the lounge level had a broken printer so we had to wait for them to go back to the lounge with our boarding passes to print our new ones, apparently the 2 minute delay to boarding is too much for some as angry grumbling ensued.

Tons of upgrades (Y-J) on DXB-CDG EK75 (14/08), I guess no J-F (there was 4 J empty seats). On the EK72 I used miles to upgrade (and as far as I know, there was no operational upgrades on this flight).

Tier status: EK Gold
Tier miles to date: 80k or so
Skywards miles balance: 14k
Number of pax on the same PNR: 1

Was asked at check-in if travelling alone, perhaps a prelude. New op-up policy seems to still be OK for Gold on Flex ticket on high overbook low status routes like India. Did get stuck in 10E (middle) though so not that high on the list presumably.

Also my third op-up in as many segments (trip via DXB with 2 legs per segment), however had 2 segments before without op-up. Think I had one before that. Losing track, but overall decent rate though always the short flights.

This seems unusual given the new upgrade policy being discussed on here.

Hmm.

Evidence perhaps that the new policy is "We don't really have a policy......"
