I think a curtain between classes is the standard sign that it's not your cabin class and esp as they are drawn closed after take off. As for signage it is very clear to me when I see the indicators for toilets on the A380 showing aft only as available for J class. It always happens that some pax try to get what they didn't pay for whether it's sneaking into a lounge or using faculties or sneaking up to the J/F bar but it's also fair that cabin crew/ lounge agents try to protect the privledges of those who paid for a service within the norms of being courteous to the passenger. On the flip side I have seen passengers being very rude to staff when they are told no and IMHO that is usually the behaviour of someone who knows they are in the wrong.

For example, AF draws curtains of their mid-section J-galley (on 77W) to avoid visual and noise "pollution", as the bar is situated there. On AF, blue curtains mean J, and red curtains are for F. If not clear, there is a written sign saying "do not enter". No room for unvoluntary mistake. If curtains meant "no entry", I wouldn't be able to go take a shower from my F seat, as there is a curtain in between ... As for the lav sign on EK388, the arrow clearly goes up and left (or right), as if you have to go further and turn. It is absolutely not a standard sign of "go back where you came from". I can take a photo for you next time I ride a 388 two weeks from now. Don't get me wrong, I always go to my class lav whether I fly J or F. And I've seen rude J going to the front after clearly being told by FA to go aft ... But that's not the only uncivilized behavior on board. |

Well it is when it divides one class from another. Certainly has always been clear to me that the line is drawn at the first curtain you encounter when leaving your cabin class. As for the signs they point clearly to the rear of the aircraft only ie |_> if that makes sense. There is no arrow that suggests you go through the curtain to first and then back again. The sign above the aft suggesting a lav at the front right is not illuminated although I think it used to be but they have changed this sometime ago.

 and again, i was asking, whether the small toilet can be used by C pax, not demanding it. what part of this makes some fellow FTers feel prompted to b"tch on my wife or me, is beyond me.... |

if you follow that "rule" of yours, you will have extreme difficulties to get released when, for instance, you fly SQ 777 in F, since all three restrooms are in front of you behind closed curtains...

For whatever reason, you seem determined to misinterpret the responses which followed your original question. Whether you are doing so wilfully or not, is hard to say ; but the fact remains that you are painting yourself as some sort of victim where there is no need. The two key objectives behind your post were a) to ask forum members whether the particular loo your wife wanted to use was for F or J pax, and b) to comment on what you felt was a rude attitude shown by an FA towards your wife. As far as a) is concerned ......the clear consensus is that the loo just ahead of the J cabin is indeed for the exclusive use of F pax. With regard to b), a number of posters have also stated that if the FA was indeed discourteous to your wife, then this is wrong. From this you have somehow deduced that "some fellow FT-ers feel prompted to b*tch on my wife or me" : a rather odd conclusion to say the least  In fact, I'm struggling to find any evidence of personal criticism, and the posts have revolved around people's own experiences and thoughts about the loos, signage, and relevant incidents occurring on various flights. I suspect what has happened here is that you simply don't like the factual answer that was given in response to your query. But that's no reason to shoot the messenger - or, in this case, several concurring messengers. |
