But if its smaller plane could it be BOS? - there was supposedly a LHR-BOS slot up for grabs in April due to the Bermuda II replacement with open skies since DL only kept one frequency.

Wait it minutes! Is that near FLR & PSA? I realize that. I remember that I went to Italy years ago. Then why they didn't go to FLR or PSA? It could be near. It's much closer.

BLQ is a much busier airport than FLR and PSA (double FLR and 25% more than PSA), with a metropolitan population of 1 million - similar to FLR, but discounted for the previous reason - compared to Pisa's 200k. Unfortunately for some, EK doesn't just exist to connect the world to popular tourist attractions

In the official note EK puts emphasis also on cargo (automotive [Ferrari, Lamborghini] , chemicals, food etc.).
A market with higher premium appeal than PSA/FLR.
And I'm not sure PSA and FLR have runways and functionality for a 777.
This move definitely hurts TK before anyone else.

Just noticed this on pprune :-

1st January 2016

LGW (EK009/010) from daily A380 (3-class) to A380 (2-class)

I assume that will be the 2nd 2-class A380 delivery.

Maybe then switch the 3 class to MAN

Also consider the runway lengh at Florence. It's not possible with a A332 or B777.

Catchmant area of Bologna is much bigger than Pisa. Talking about touristical and cultural sights you can easaly go to Pisa, Florence, Verona, Rimini or San Marino from Bologna. Further Emilia Romagna is the region with the third highest GBP in Italy.

My guesses:

1) BOS/PHL: I think there is a free slot available for either of these cities (PHL might have been taken by DL, not 100% sure there). If it is an A380, then that will rule out PHL.

2) JFK: Obvi.

Even a A319 is a tight fit. FLR doesn't even have proper taxiways. Planes have to use the runway to taxi part of the way.

DL took the PHL-LHR slot pair, service started about 2 months ago. Wouldn't a 380 rule out BOS as well.
