First Class Moan

Flew SYD/DXB/LGW last Saturday. Paid for Business and upgraded with Reward points.

Plane was 55 mins late departing SYD due to fault with ICE. Arrived at DXB with only 20 mins before departure of LGW flight (instead of 85 mins scheduled).

Managed to just make the flight, but amazingly got scolded by one of the gate staff for boarding at the gate instead of via the lounge! I pointed out that because of the late departure of the SYD flight we hadn't had the time to visit the lounge, but she seemed more concerned that we would now have to use the internal stairs to access the upper deck!

Finally made it to our seats to be greeted by an announcement from the captain that our departure was delayed due to some late transfer passengers luggage. Great I thought, at least our luggage will make it.

Arrived LGW. First through passport control and waiting at the carrousel for our luggage. 20 mins later a tannoy announcement called us to the baggage handlers. Our luggage hadn't made it. Why couldn't they have told us during the flight so that we didn't waste 20 mins earlier?

Our cases were eventually delivered to our home at 10am Sunday.

Not impressed. Probably just bad luck but could have been handled better.

Paul

First Class Moan

When I read the title I was expecting some really excellent moan! But seriously what is the moan? A boarding anomaly and your bags getting found and delivered to your home at 10am next day after a 20 min wait? A better title might be first world problem!

The OP also forgot to rant over the excessively long walk from the A380 gate to passport control at LGW

Ukdoctor - you are right. If I had turned right instead of left I could have walked home quicker.

It is a pretty long walk I have to admit and it does spoil the 380 experience at LGW. It feels worse when I have just taken 3 flights and arrive tired at LGW.

I've stopped flying on the 380 to/ from LGW.
