Tight Connection at DXB

I currently hold a reservation on 6 November, with EK 844 from Doha connecting to EK 386 to Hong Kong. The connection time between the 2 flights are only 70 minutes. I am wondering if I could make it. I know it takes at least 2 hours to connect between airlines. How about EK to EK connections? I do NOT have any hold (checked-in) baggage with me, just my carry on.

Thanks.

Minimum connection time for EK to EK flights is 75 minutes. Not sure how you got 70 minutes as the connection time, as it seems to be 86 minutes as per EKs schedule.

It is 70 minutes for the above flights which is weird (arr 1745 dep 1855). I suggest that the OP contact EK or the TA if this was booked under the same ticket. If this was booked as 2 separate tickets then I think it's risky even without baggage.

I called EK and they said it is under one ticket number but with two reservation codes. She did not say I must change it but only ask me to talk to my travel agent.

Based on the above, I'm assuming my 110 minutes (1:50 hours) connection from EK204 to EK703 will be sufficient. EK204 lands at 8:10 AM. I'll be flying J and may have a checked bag. Any difficulty with the bag making it? Google Flight says that EK204 is generally 30+ minutes late, and there is only one flight per day on EK to MRU, so we need to make that connection. Any thoughts/comments on this itinerary?

Also, it is not for many months - does EK change flight schedules often? I know with DL, I am all but guaranteed flight time changes.

EK are generally reasonably good at speeding pax through the airport to make connections. They won't usually hold flights for late incoming planes though. The next EK flight to MRU isn't until 03.10 the following morning.
Flightstats.com confirm that EK204 has a mean delay of 31mins but that 68% of arrivals are 'on-time' (0-15 min late). 82% of arrivals are within 30 mins of 08:10 so you should be OK.
As an alternative you could take EK206 / EK701 with a 4:15 connection.
I doubt that you will see major changes in flight times.

It might be worth thinking what you might want to do with an unscheduled 17hrs in Dubai beforehand in case you don't make the connection - hopefully you could get EK to provide a hotel and get out of the airport.

I routinely do EK204 connecting to EK506 (9:25 am). Always made it (and bags too). IME EK204 arrives much before 8:10 am, typically 7:40 am. Except the odd time that it has been delayed (4+ hours) due to late arrival of 203, in which case, EK automatically re-booked me to EK502.

You shouldn't have any issues at all.

My experience with tight (running through airport / last to board tight) connections is bag has always arrived. The only time I've had a bag miss the connection in DXB was when I missed DXB-CMB and was put on next (more than 5hrs later) flight. Bag took 48hrs to get to me.
