I think you just need to keep waiting, upgrading J to F on the A380 is usually not a problem, Y to J on the other hand....
I'll report my experience with Z inventory.

There's the occasional three class 77W.

There are 2 Z class available MAN-DXB on Friday on the A380 flight. Probably a waste as I don't think I'll be in my seat more than 60 minutes.

Also 2 Z DXB-MRU. This is more tempting, but is a 777-300. Problems, problems...

Man dxb can be as short as 6.5 hours, I've done that flight if f and it was messy (remember the lost suits saga?! . ). If I had the choice I'd go 380 mru has frequent swaps and the 773 is not worth an upgrade. When I'm in suites I don't bother with the bar generally.

I think the OP is asking about a miles upgrade. Emirates don't usually offer upgrades for free just because you ask. They are given to passengers with status (and rightly so)

I get that, just giving information on how much you had to pay and a family member's experience.
