Emirates.com Booking Help

I'm trying to find the price for the following trip for 1 adult+1child tickets:

4/5/2014: CMH-DXB-CGK
4/21/2014: CGK-DXB-CMH

In Economy, I found the total price to be $3179 for:
- AA3145/EK202/EK256
- EK357/EK201/AA3535

But the layover in JFK for the outbound is 7:40, and I saw that there are later flight on Delta with shorter layover (3:40). But when I pick the Delta connections, the price jumps to $25442!!

Here are the flights:
- DL4087/EK202/EK256
- EK357/EK201/DL2969

I don't understand what's going on. That $25442 doesn't looks right. Is there something wrong with their online booking site?

The EK fares from CMH-CGK only allow travel on AA for the intra USA segement. So basically the EK site is pricing a much (much much) more expensive ticket that allows travel on DL. These are the routing rules

Code:
V FARE BASIS BK FARE TRAVEL-TICKET AP MINMAX RTG
  1 KLXIPUS1 K‡R 988.00 T11FE - SU/ 4M AT01
PASSENGER TYPE-ADT AUTO PRICE-YES
FROM-CMH TO-JKT CXR-EK TVL-04APR14 RULE-UST1 IPRA/1
FARE BASIS-KLXIPUS1 SPECIAL FARE DIS-E VENDOR-ATP
FARE TYPE-XES RT-SPECIAL EXCURSION FARE
USD 988.00 CONS E15JAN14 D-INFINITY FC-KLXIPUS1 FN-2J
SYSTEM DATES - CREATED 14JAN14/0822 EXPIRES INFINITY

**** CONSTRUCTED ROUTING CMH-JKT/EK EF-15JAN14 DIS-INDEF
**ADDON ORG CMH TARG/1 PUBLISHED ROUTING 0700
**PUBLISHED CHI-CGK TARG/1 PUBLISHED ROUTING 0700

/VIA THE ATLANTIC/
MAP CONSTRUCTED LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT
 1. CMH-AA-DFW-DXB-JKT
 2. CMH-AA-NYC-MIL-ATH/IST/LYS/NCE/PAR/ROM-DXB-JKT
There is a routing via Dallas DFW that will reduce overall travel time by about 4 hours (pretty much the same travel time as DL via JFK) but still has long connections (3h in DFW and then 6h in DXB) for the same price.

I've got a similar problem. I'm trying to price SYD-MAN, MAN-AMS and AMS-SYD in Y on the EK site.

I select the SYD-MAN (EK) flights, and MAN-AMS (only available on KL). So far so good.

When I "review" at that point - expand the + sign for the segments - all flights show as Economy. Still good.

But when I select the AMS-SYD (EK) flights, the pricing page has (a) an apology that it can't give me the requested class on all sectors, (b) the KL flight showing J, (c) a note under AMS-SYD that it's not in the requested class (but it is) and (d) a total airfare of ~$15,000. Something is really wrong.

I assume that this is a problem of EK's system accessing KL's data/pricing/??? Annoying.

It always works out much much cheaper to take them as two separate tickets. EK increases the prices dramatically when you try to do a through booking on their website.

Have you tried SYD-AMS/MAN-SYD on EK and then a separate AMS-MAN ticket?

This is what I'd do.

I have previously booked open-jaw flights like this and they are priced very reasonably. For example the price of DXB-GVA/ZRH-DXB was between DXB-GVA return and DXB-ZRH return.

Edit: You can get the AMS-MAN dirt cheap from a low-cost airline.

Sure, but it wasn't just overcharging me for a KL Y ticket, it was making the non-EK flight a J ticket. It seems to be bug in the software.

Yes; I need to book through a corporate TA anyway but was just after a quick quote for planning purposes.
