Error while trying to upgrade

Error while trying to upgrade

Hi,

I purchased flex tickets in economy hoping to upgrade. I was able to upgrade one of four sector without a problem while the other 3 showed no availability. I have been trying every day since just to see if any D become available.

For the last two days, instead of showing no upgrade available, it now shows me an error saying "SORRY WE CANNOT UPGRADE REDEMPTION, CASH PLUS MILES OR DISCOUNTED TICKETS"

Can anyone please advise why this is so?

Hi - I am getting the exact same problem with both my bookings (both full price saver and flex) so you're not alone.

I've also had this problem for 2 days - so I don't think we're alone!

I'll be calling them Monday if it doesn't sort itself out over the weekend.

Thanks Andy290. I called the customer service today. They could not tell me anything. I did try and explain that my flex tickets show error while saver tickets are able to show me the correct results (I.e. No upgrades available). But no resolution.

Please do update if you manage to resolve.

FWIW I got the same message when trying to upgrade a flight I had already checked in on line for. Not related in terms of your specific issue but odd that I ended up in the same place.

OK just tried both live chat and phoning Emirates CS.

Nada. Gave some cock and bull story about them being non-upgradeable online - untrue as I already upgraded one sector of the booking online prior to seeing this error on Friday.

About as much use as a chocolate fireguard...

Exactly the same experience with the call centre. And like Andy290 I too had upgraded one sector.

Any help anyone?!

Just a thought as I seem to recall something similar reported by m3red. (But I might be totally wrong).

One segment may have gone from an Economy Flex to a Business Saver Reward by means of you upgrading it. If the Business Saver Reward has more restrictive Fare Rules, are these being applied across the whole booking?

Ft101 you may be right as I have indeed upgraded my flex on one of the four sectors. But you would think emirates has thought about this!

My issue was upgrading by cash which then changed my return to a non upgrade able saver

That said I've not been able to upgrade online either recently always had to call up.

Guys,

Quick question, are you having problems with tickets purchased direct, or through a TA?

Mine are both booked through our corporate partner (Capita) and Emirates are saying that they're discounted fares (albeit about 2%) which is why I can't upgrade.

Strange how this started happening at the same time to both Saver and Flex tickets though, and the Flex ticket has not been changed since booking.

I purchased online. Selected flex fares for kids (to get a separate PNR) and a saver for myself (Separate PNR). All through emirates.com web site. My saver ticket was a lot cheaper. The saver clearly says "Cannot upgrade before checking".. But not on flex. But started getting the error after about 7 days. Used to work just fine.
