work on DXB runways

I've got the info, some of the DXB runways will be closed and a lot of flights cancelled, because of construction work in May 2014

Any news on that?

Been in the planning for a while now. Plenty of articles discussing it available on line - here's one.

I believe all the changes in frequency and cancellations were to be loaded by the end of November and a lot of them are already.

Anyone have an update to date list of the temp changes? I know it was reported Glasgow was going to a daily service but it's still up as twice daily.

I know the DXB-CMB route is getting hammered

The afternoon Glasgow flight disappeared from the schedule for a while but was re-instated. When I asked about this at the airport a couple of months ago, they were hopeful it would stay on. It was there that I heard the November deadline as they said that's when they would know.

There's been a few mentioned in the last week or two - lots more detail here:

The majority of the A330/340/345 fleet are being 'rested' in order to meet the 30% reduction. Most of the pilots on the fleet are on forced leave during the 3 month period.

FZ are believed to be transferring part of their operation to DWC for the summer, maybe longer.

That is already good news, it would be even better if they accelerated the withdrawal of the 330/340 family. Anyone with a decently-informed insight on what the retirement schedule might look like over 2014?
